Ascert announces VersaTest Direct Export for Quality Center

Ascert announces the extension of back-end message test execution and result reporting directly into HP’s Quality Center.

Sausalito, California (PRWEB) June 23, 2010 Ascert has strengthened its commitment to HP Quality Center integration by releasing a new direct export feature for its VersaTest product line. This newest feature further extends the testing capabilities of Quality Center users by allowing test cases and results from the VersaTest Automator product to be moved to their Quality Center environment for storage, without requiring administrative privileges on the local machine in order to install client software.

Ascert’s VersaTest Automator Plug-in for HP Quality Center already allows Quality Center users to define, execute and store the results of automated test plans executed by VersaTest Automator from the Quality Center interface. Some Quality Center implementations, however, are used primarily as testing result repositories and the Quality Center product does not currently provide a way to partition users into groups with the ability to only install plug-ins that are of interest to them. This means that Quality Center users must install all plug-ins, whether they are relevant to the user or not. For large organizations with global Quality Center installations this is untenable - updating just one plug-in can trigger thousands of worldwide downloads massively overloading networks and causing huge headaches for server and desktop administration staff.

"Many of our VersaTest users are happy with the plug-in architecture supplied by Quality Center but for some of our large accounts it presents challenges," said Rob Walker, Managing Partner at Ascert. "The new export features Ascert has developed offers all the same benefits of the current Quality Center plug-in but with none of the barriers. Ascert continues to lead the way in terms of open integration with leading tools such as Quality Center, and this new feature is further evidence of our commitment to providing the best tools and functionality to the testing community."

With the new VersaTest Quality Center Export feature comes a different and altogether simpler way of working: define and run your tests within VersaTest, and when you have results that you need to publish simply export them to one or more Quality Center servers. The export function is directly available from the normal VersaTest browser interface, no client software needs to be installed, and no admin privileges are needed on the local machine.

Quality Center Export is available with VersaTest Automator version 1.2. For more information on the Quality Center Export or the latest version of VersaTest Automator contact your local Ascert office.

Ascert Announces Driver Development Partnership Program
Ascert’s program provides users new flexibilities in driver creation

Sausalito, California (PRWEB) December 1, 2009 – Ascert announced today the creation of its Driver Development Partnership Program.  The program provides members with the tools and commercial rights necessary for them to create and market their own automated test drivers based on the Driver Framework Standard (DFS) implemented by Ascert’s VersaTest Automator testing tool.

Key to this announcement is the availability of the Driver Development Kit (DDK) which was unveiled at the November 12, 2009 Ascert User Group Conference in London. “We’re excited about both the release of the DDK and the Driver Development Partner Program” says Rob Walker, Managing Partner at Ascert. “Taken together, they enable our partners to bring the automated testing functionality of VersaTest Automator into their organizations while also allowing them to benefit commercially from their development efforts.”

The DDK contains the tools necessary for development of drivers that conform to the Driver Framework Standard (DFS).  Ascert’s DFS provides a comprehensive set of core functions that are common to all drivers. This unique methodology eliminates redundant code development and streamlines driver creation which translates to lower development costs.

DFS drivers also offer standardized test definition and operation.  This enables them to operate as dual role drivers, allowing them to be usable for both functional and performance testing.  “The DDK provides everything you need to build drivers for your own operation.  We empower our customers by allowing them to either create their own drivers or to contract with us.  Also, we enable approved external parties to benefit from the DDK via our partner program,” adds Walker.

The Driver Development Partnership Program is open to both individuals and organizations who wish to expand their experience, customer reach, and revenue opportunities. In addition to providing partners the technology, tools and licensing rights needed for them to develop their own drivers, Ascert will promote their efforts by making partner-developed drivers commercially available via the Ascert web site.  For more information on becoming an Ascert partner, visit http://www.ascert.com/partners.html.

Ascert Releases VersaTest Automator v1.1

VersaTest Automator now available for increased testing efficiencies

Sausalito, California (PRWEB) November 17, 2009 - Ascert announced today the general release of VersaTest Automator version 1.1.  The latest version contains several usability enhancements as well as the initial version of Ascert's Driver Library and Package Management features. This enables pre-packaged drivers to be downloaded and installed direct from the Ascert website into VersaTest Automator allowing a far simpler driver deployment and upgrade path than was previously available.

"One of the goals of this release has been to extend the flexibility in the already easy to operate user interface," says Simon Miles, Ascert's Product Architect for the VersaTest product line.  "We're fortunate to have a very collaborative relationship with our customers, who supply us with constant feedback for continuous product improvement.  As a result of such feedback this version includes a forms-based, validating editor that makes test case maintenance easier, and reduces human error as well as enhancements to the flexibility of test case reporting."

The new release is compliant with Quality Center 10.0 allowing for users of HP's product to significantly extend their testing capabilities, with VersaTest Automator as the back end testing engine and the familiar Quality Center interface as the front end.  "This not only enables extended testing capabilities but also measurable time savings in the testing process," added Miles.

In addition to time savings in testing, VersaTest Automator decreases the time involved in analyzing testing results.  With an easy to use GUI interface and "audit capture" functionality, the product increases both testing accuracy as well as ROI.  To find out more about VersaTest Automator, visit http://www.ascert.com/pdf/VersaTestAutomator.pdf or call one of the local Ascert offices.
